School Closure in Case of Severe Weather
We hope that we are not unduly troubled by adverse weather conditions but the following information will be helpful if any difficulties arise:-
Snow in the morning
- Students within walking distance of the school ( including Merriott, Misterton and Haselbury if parents consider it is safe ) are expected to attend. Staff within walking distance will be here to receive them. A modified timetable may be necessary.
- Students who travel by bus should wait at the usual pick up point for 20 minutes. After that they can assume that the bus will not run that day.
Snow during the day
- We will do our best to make the right decision after taking advice. Please do not phone the school - this stops us from making important outgoing calls to bus companies, etc.

We do have some local emergency contacts in some villages. The following have kindly
agreed to act as a focal point to receive messages from the school:

- If you collect your son / daughter by car and you are worried about the conditions we will obviously not refuse parents who call at the school to pick up their children. Please report to the School Office so that we are aware of what is happening !
- The school would try to get a message broadcast on:
- Radio Bristol M.W. 227 metres / 13.23 KHz / FM 95.5 MHz
- Somerset Sound M.W. 227 metres 7.30 a.m. to 10.00 a.m.
- Orchard FM FM 102.6 MHz (VHF)
- Please try to make sure that your son/ daughter knows where to go ( your home or a friend's or neighbour's etc: ) in case we have to close early.
- Please stress to your son/ daughter that they should not go to a friend's house etc: without letting you or the school office know of their whereabouts.
